Doing the Right Thing

Our policy report, Doing the Right Thing, launched in April 2024 before the last UK general election, and explored what a new government could do to improve the lives of autistic people and their families.

Building on our Real Change report of 2023, it provided some practical, meaningful actions that could be taken forward while working towards the systemic change needed in the longer term.

Download the report to find out more about the changes in accountability and culture that could make a tangible difference to autistic people and their families.

A word about our artwork

The artwork and design used in our Doing the Right Thing campaign was the product of a fantastic collaboration.

We wanted to create a sense of how autistic people bring energy and colour to the world, each experiencing it in their own unique way. We also wanted to use the wonderful artwork of Charlotte Crawford - The Autistic Artist.

Her use of colour, texture and paint was inspirational, leading our designer, Rachel Jarvis, to suggest creating images where autistic people are shown in colour, intertwined with Charlotte’s artwork - surrounded by a monotone world.
