Evidence on new communication programme

Finding communication and language interventions that really help autistic people is one of the community’s top priorities for research. Currently one in four autistic people speak few or no words throughout their life.

Alliance Member Autistica, the UK’s autism research charity, has just published an evidence summary on parent-led video feedback therapy. This is a new a form of therapy to support young children on the autism spectrum build long-term communication skills and is now ready to be used across the NHS.

The evidence summary recommends that all local areas should have health professionals accredited to deliver PACT, the leading type of these interventions. For World Autism Awareness Month help share this new evidence with your local providers, commissioners or Autism Partnership Board.
